Terms and Conditions
Enrollment in and payment for a service or a package implies agreement and acceptance of the terms and conditions set forth below. In this agreement, Aventuras Naturales may be referred to as the "Operator," "Aventuras Naturales," or “Sitio Web Info Costa Rica”.
All reservations should be made in writing by e-mail [email protected] Pacuare Lodge will promptly answer every request within 48 hours of receipt of request.
Individual bookings 1-3 rooms: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to guarantee the services listed in the itinerary. The remaining payment of 50% is due no later than 45 days prior to tour departure for individual reservations. For Christmas season a 50% deposit must be received at time of booking. The pending balance is due 120 days prior to arrival. For New Year’s Eve we provide a special dinner and a per-person fee of $120 must be added.
For group reservations please check with your travel consultant payment and cancelation policies.
All payments must be received in U.S. dollars. Payments may be made in the following manner:
Credit Card Authorization Form (VISA or MasterCard) completed legibly, in full and personally signed by the client. Charges will be made in US dollars.
Personal or agency check (made out in U.S. dollars, drawn on a U.S. bank) may be mailed to our drop-box at the following address:

We kindly request that you notify us when payment is sent by sending us via email a copy of the wire confirmation receipt. Please include the amount and date of the transfer, as this is the only way we can confirm it. Upon receipt of payment by transfer, we will provide you with a receipt and confirmation of all services listed in the itinerary.
Modification / Cancellation Notice
Cancellations must be received in writing to our email [email protected] The following charges will apply when cancellation is made after the booking is confirmed by Aventuras Naturales S.A / Pacuare Lodge. Should you need to modify your hotel pick-up, please call our main phone line 011 (506) 4033-0060 between 6am-6pm Central time Monday to Friday, Saturdays from 7:00am to 3:00pm, and Sundays 7:00am -1:00pm. Otherwise, your absence at the confirmed location will be considered a No-show and will be charged at 100%.
FIT reservations (1 to 3 rooms)
• Cancellations must be received in writing by our email [email protected] no later than 45 days in advance of your trip. A U.S. $50 handling fee will be applied.
• Cancellations 44 or less days will be fully charged at 100% (the entire package rate). We strongly recommend cancellation insurance.
Note: During Christmas season (December 19 – January 08), FIT cancellations received once booking is confirmed will have a 20% penalty of the total reservation applied. Cancellations made with less than 120 days written notice will be fully charged at 100%. For New Year’s Eve we provide a special dinner with an additional fee (please contact your travel consultant for more information).
Group reservations (4 to 5 rooms)
• Cancellations must be received in writing to our email [email protected]
• Cancellations made 90 days or less days written notice will be fully charged at 100% (the entire package rate). We strongly recommend cancellation insurance.
Note: During Christmas season (December 19 – January 08) we do not accept group reservations.
Group reservations 6 or more:
• Cancellations made once the reservation is confirmed will have a 20% penalty of the total reservation applied.
• Cancellations made 120 days to 60 days in advance will be charged a 30% penalty of total booking.
• Cancellations 59 or less days will be fully charged.
The same fee applies to partial cancellation of bookings.
The penalty will be applied per person in accordance of the type of package and occupancy booked with Aventuras Naturales / same fee applies to partial cancellation of bookings
What happens if the rafting access in or out to/ from lodge is cancelled? We are occasionally forced to cancel the arrival and/or departure by river rafting on our overnight trips to Pacuare Lodge due to unsafe water levels on the river. In these cases, clients will access or leave the lodge by ground transportation by 4x4 vehicle (approximately a 45-minute ride). A refund of 50% of the unused portion of the rafting trip will be given under these circumstances.
Please note refund will not be provided when guests are not able to participate in one or more activities included in the package due to bad weather conditions. Same applies for guests that choose not to enjoy the optional activities because of personal reasons or physical limitations. Activities should be booked at Pacuare Lodge upon arrival, these are subject to avaialbility. Tours require a minimum of two guests and maximum of eight guests to operate. Please note some of the hikes require good physical condition because of the topography and humidity in the Pacuare Reserve. Naturalist guides will have the final decision on wether guests are able to participate or not.
Refunds: No refund will be given for no-shows of any unused portion of the itinerary, whether voluntary or caused by airline delay or cancellations. * A 4% charge will be taken from the total amount for bank services and will be reflected in your credit card 20 days after request.
Pricing: Our trips include all services as specified in the respective itinerary. The final itinerary and price that is accepted by the client shall be considered binding in its nature (by e-mail) and only those services mentioned will be included.
Domestic flights: Aventuras Naturales acts as an agent for the purchase of domestic airline tickets; the passenger contract in use shall constitute the sole contract between the airline and the passenger. Aventuras Naturales is not responsible for cancellations or delays of domestic flights or for any lost services as a result thereof. Domestic flights are regularly scheduled. In the case of non-operation of a domestic flight for any reason, the client will be responsible for any additional expenses or will pay the difference for a charter plane. Due to the risk of flight delay or cancellation, Aventuras Naturales does not recommend scheduling domestic flights on the same day as international flights; all clients insisting on scheduling domestic and international flights on the same day shall do so at their own risk.
Liability Insurance: Aventuras Naturales is covered with an insurance policy issued by the National Insurance Institute of Costa Rica (Instituto Nacional de Seguros). However, we strongly suggest that your agency, or the clients themselves, arrange for a short-term traveler's insurance covering baggage, accident/life and trip cancellation. Please note that Costa Rica's insurance industry is state-owned, and the insurance that we are permitted to purchase for our trips is limited. If the rare occurrence of an accident should happen, the client will be responsible for paying for medical attention received at the time of service and will need to contact his/her insurance company directly for reimbursement upon return to their home country. Aventuras Naturales is not responsible for covering any medical costs not specified in our insurance policy, including transportation to/from medical services, translation or interpretation services or hospital deposits; nor are we liable for a client's inability to make the required payment.
Safety and Liability: We will spare no effort to provide you with the highest quality, most enjoyable experience possible. Aventuras Naturales' guides are among the best in the business and each is trained in Standard First Aid, CPR, and Swift Water Rescue. They will instruct you on all safety measures before each trip and will advise you as the trip progresses. A fully stocked first-aid kit is standard equipment on every trip. However, outdoor and adventure activities can be physically demanding with inherent elements of danger beyond our control. Aventuras Naturales (its owners, associates, agents and employees) assumes no responsibility for injury, loss, damage to person or property, or for additional expenses due to acts of God (sickness, weather, etc), strike, detention, riot, war, quarantine, thefts, civil disturbances, or government regulations or restrictions. We are not responsible for any accidents, delays, inconveniences, expenses or mishaps of any kind whatsoever resulting entirely, or in part, from the negligence of others or from causes beyond our control. We reserve the right to make reasonable changes and/or substitutions in the itinerary where deemed necessary. For those trips and tours where Aventuras Naturales is not the source or provider, we act solely as agents and as such assume no responsibility should any supplier fail to provide the service contracted. Baggage is the sole responsibility of the owner and will be transported at the owner's risk. We reserve the right to decline to accept, or to retain, any person as a tour member for any reason that affects the operation of the tour, the rights and welfare or enjoyment of the other tour members. A refund of the recoverable land tour services is the limit of Aventuras Naturales liability in this event. We cannot allow persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs on any of our trips. No refunds will be given under such circumstances.
Medical and Health: Persons with known medical conditions, pregnancy, dietary restrictions or problems should make them known to Aventuras Naturales well before arrival. Aventuras Naturales will make every effort to accommodate dietary or other requests, at times with an additional cost to the client. We reserve the right to disqualify anyone at any time during the tour if it is felt that the individual is physically incapable of performing an activity and/or if that individual's continued participation would jeopardize the safety of the group or handicap the normal functioning or scheduling of the tour. Aventuras Naturales assumes no responsibility for special arrangements necessary or problems. Experienced for or by passengers physically unable to participate in the planned activities with no previous notification.
Important Notice for guests stowing luggage at our offices
Aventuras Naturales offers complimentary luggage stowing service at our river take-out warehouse in Siquirres. Up to the present we have never had any problems with theft; however, and from this point on, Aventuras Naturales will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen objects. Therefore we will require guests to securely padlock all luggage left at our facilities. It is also advisable for guests not to leave behind valuables or important documents such as passports and credit cards. The latter should be best taken to the Pacuare Lodge in ziplock plastic bags or similar (we provide safety boxes in our bungalows). Additionally, guests who leave luggage at our facilities will be asked to sign a form consenting to the above conditions.
