Pacuare Lodge - Arenal - Manuel Antonio

Day 1: Airport meet & greet by our representative and transfer to your city hotel.
Overnight at the Grano de Oro or similar..
Day 2: Pacuare River Rafting
6:00 -7:00 am: Early morning pick-up in your hotel lobby by a Costa Rica Nature Adventures representative. Transportation service (approximately 2½ hours) to our Pacuare River put-in including a typical Costa Rican breakfast in route. Exciting 1-1½ hour river rafting tour to the Pacuare Lodge (class II-III rapids) where you will enjoy a two night stay at Costa Rica’s premier eco-lodge ( B,L, D)
Day 3: Optional Tour at Pacuare Lodge
You’ll wake up to bird song and the soothing sound of the river nearby. Then head over to the main lodge for a delicious breakfast of home-made bread, tropical fruits, yogurt, eggs, pancakes, cereal and juice and coffee.
The lodge employs a resident naturalist guide who will provide you with unique insights into the plant and animal world. Choose from exciting optional tours (not included in the price) that include guided hikes through an emerald rainforest, the Cabecar Indian tour - where visitors may participate in a cultural exchange with a shaman and our Adventure Canopy Tour –where visitors glide amid a tropical rainforest canopy (B,L,D) Overnight at Pacuare Lodge.
Day 4: Pacuare River Rafting and transfer to Arenal
Departure between 9:00-10:00 am. In the morning you will depart by raft for an even more fun-filled day of white water rating excitement (approximately 3½ hours over class III-IV rapids), including a delicious picnic lunch along the river. At our river take-out you will have a chance to change at our private facilities before being transferred by private minibus to the Arenal Volcano area (about 3 ½ hours). Day 5: Caño Negro Nature Preserve
Enjoy a full day trip to Caño Negro Nature Preserve . This preserve offers some of the most abundant bird watching opportunities in the world. Located near the small town of Los Chiles (3 miles from the Nicaraguan border), the refuge is a haven for literally thousands of birds, plants, fish, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. On this tour you’ll see more wildlife in a single day than in several weeks of hiking. On an average day you can expect to see 40 species of birds, caiman, sloth’s, bats, turtles, lizards, monkeys and iguanas. Following a 15-minute break in Los Chiles, you’ll board a comfortable covered motor launch on the Rio Frio.
After lunch, we’ll head back to the river for more animal viewing. After a quick break in Los Chiles, enjoy a relaxing return ride to La Fortuna. Free afternoon to relax and enjoy the spa at Tabacón where you will have an opportunity to refresh your weary body in steaming hot springs as you view the colorful tropical gardens that cling to the lower reaches of the volcano. These inviting waters form sparkling waterfalls and warm water pools that will soak your worries away. . Overnight at Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort or similar. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Transfer to Manuel Antonio National Park area.
Our representative will pick you up at your hotel in the morning. Transfer service to Parador Hotel (or similar), located near exuberant Manuel Antonio National Park. Located on a coastal rainforest bluff overlooking the Pacific make this area a great destination for those seeking adventure travel, ecotourism, sportsfishing or just the tranquility of white-sand beaches and magnificent ocean views. The Manuel Antonio area offers splendid lodges, fine dining and beautiful beaches, such as Playa Manuel Antonio, with its clear inviting waters. Snorkeling here is great - the crystal blue waters offer ample opportunity to see a wide variety of marine life. The surf is generally gentler during the dry season, perfect for body surfing, boogie . Overnight at Parador Hotel or similar. (B)
Day 7: Optional tour at Manuel Antonio
Today enjoy one of the following optional tours (not included in the price) : Rainmaker Jungle Waterfall, where visitors can swim in the pools beneath a pristine cascade; or Sea Kayaking in a protected inland waterway, a perfect place to learn this interesting sport while viewing coastal mangrove areas and countless aquatic birds.
Other optional tours available: Deep-sea fishing for marlin and other large game fish, horseback trekking and sailboat cruises. Overnight at Parador Hotel or similar.(B )
Day 8: Air transfer to San José.
Pick up at your hotel in the morning and transfer to local airport for a SANSA airline flight to Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela. You may connect with your international flight or spend an overnight stay in San José.(B)
