Pacuare Lodge Staff

Willman Solano
Resident Manger

Born and raised in a small town near Turrialba, Willman’s passion for nature lead him to study Ecological Tourism at the Universidad de Costa Rica, where he eventually earned his degree. Three years as the resident manager at the Pacuare Lodge have only strengthened Willman’s love for the outdoors, so much so, that when time permits you will often see him double as a naturalist guide, leading guests on the Pacuare Canopy Adventure tour and morning bird watching tour. He is highly regarded by his staff for his kind and dedicated manner.

Jorge

Jorge is the operations and tour manager and he is the person who tales over for Willman on his free days and vacation. Jorge is from Turrialba and boasts seventeen years with our company, making him our most senior and experienced employee. He originally began his career as a guide and is now responsible for the operation of all our tours. Jorge is a special person who loves his work and who shows great pride in forging a professional and unified team.

Freddy

He is the one with the blue helmet!! Freddy lives in El Bajo del Tigre and he is in charge of the maintenance and construction work at the lodge. More than 50 percent of the building activity has been overseen by Freddy, who has shown an innate ability as a master builder.  Freddy is also in charge of making sure all the lodge’s waste is properly disposed of according to ecologically sound practices.

Roberto
Maintenance & Landscaping

Roberto is a native of the Cabecar tribe, the largest indigenous group in Costa Rica.
He lives in the Nairi Awari indigenous reserve, located in the rainforest covered mountains that surround the Pacuare Lodge.  From his thatched home deep in the forest, Roberto hikes an hour every morning to the lodge, and then another hour home in the early evening. Roberto overseas the maintenance and upkeep of the main lodge as well as that of the surrounding gardens. He and his brother Siberiano are also in charge of safekeeping our Culture and Traditions area located in the old main lodge. Roberto has been a part of our Pacuare Lodge staff for over ten years.

Calín

As with Gerardo, Calín also hails from the hamlet of El Bajo del Tigre where he gets up bright and early every day to make the long hike to the lodge. He works in maintenance and also as our in-house cowboy, leading guests on horseback tours. He has worked with the Pacuare Lodge for over fourteen years and he is our main liaison with the various community projects we participate in.

Guiselle
Pastry Chef

Mother of two children, Guiselle also makes the forty-five minute hike everyday from El Bajo del Tigre to the lodge. Desserts are her specialty, and she continually impresses guests and staff alike with her baked goodies. She learns new skills quickly, loves her job and is welcoming and friendly with everyone she comes into contact with. Guiselle has worked at the lodge for two years.

Born and raised in El Bajo del Tigre, she began working with us in the upkeep of the bungalows, before moving on and completing an extensive training program in the art of the therapeutic massage. She is now in charge of our massage therapy program where her skills and friendly nature are highly sought-after by our guests. Her desire and ability to learn new skills have led her to oversee other similar training programs at the lodge and we have no doubt that she will continue to be an asset to our team.
